Kolb is not done developing, ability is still there

Around this time last year, the now Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback Kevin Kolb was in a similar situation to Matt Flynn many were comparing Kolb to Schaub. This time last year Kolb seemed quite different to me because in his time at Philadelphia he did not convince me he had progressed enough into becoming a quarterback capable of consistently winning in the NFL. Schaub found a way to fit into the offense and is not capable of making a defense pay when they decide to challenge him on the throws they believe he can’t make. Kolb, ironically, out of college was the one that was labeled a “solid developmental prospect” that could develop into a solid passer in the league, but he seems to be the one that hasn’t finished progressing to a point where he can carry the load of a franchise and be able to consistently win at this level. Right now it doesn’t appear that Kolb is a well-rounded enough quarterback yet to take an only marginally good team to that everyday competitive level, and that’s what a team is going to be expecting out of their franchise quarterback; there are still parts of his game to be desired that are currently limiting his chances of success in my opinion. I would not disregard or doubt anyone’s belief that Kevin Kolb has just as much ability, if not more, than Schaub or Flynn, but he will not be successful until he learns how to use himself to win games, and the 6-10 record for his career doesn’t seem to make me think otherwise.
While he has shown some glimpses of promise he has yet to put it together through himself, rather than relying on the talent around him to step up. That is how he is gonna have live up to that huge contract ($21 million guaranteed)
